History of National Youth Day
Though President Muhammadu Buhari established youth day in 2020, it has been observed since 1984. The government of India wanted Swami Vivekananda’s birthday as the best focus to observe national youth day. Because Swami Vivekananda established himself in a gorgeous manner in a young life.
On 12 January 2013, the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh declared that-
What Gandhiji said captures the great importance of spreading Swami Vivekananda’s ideas and ideals among the youth in our country today. He personified the eternal energy of the youth and their restless quest for truth. It is entirely fitting that the Government of India has declared 12th January, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, as National Youth Day. We must work to rekindle the eternal message of this great patriot and son of India – Manmohan Singh
Youth Day’s Activities
The National Youth Day is observed all over India at schools and colleges, with processions, speeches, music, youth conventions, seminars, Yogasanas, presentations, competitions in essay-writing, recitations, and sports on 12 January every year decorating with flower & light on the street as well as a Parade ground. The day inspires people who are serving in any society.
Generally, people of India do the following activities on 12 January every year-
- Lecture- depending on Swami Vivekananda’s lecture.
- Meet to know & learn about Swami Vivekananda’s life even.
- Attend a conference where teach about Swami Vivekananda’s ideality.
- Try to donate blood
